“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched.
They must be felt with the heart”
My Daughters and I went to see The Miracle Worker at Hale Theater. It's the play based on the Book written about Helen Keller and her teacher, Anne Sullivan.
"We could never learn to be brave and patient if there were only joy in the world."
This is the 3rd play we've see at The Hale. It's an Intimate, local Theater that really puts on a great show! And it was so good! Probably our Favorite!
“When one door of happiness closes, another opens;
but often we look so long at the closed door
that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.”
Deaf and Blind, Helen must learn to communicate and make her way in the world. But in order for her to do that, Anne must first find a way to enter her world and reach her.
"Although the world is full of suffering,
it is full also of the overcoming of it."
My Daughter Erica has been taking American Sign Language in High School and my other daughter, Lexi, will start ASL this year as well.
"I would rather walk with a friend in the dark, than alone in the light."
Erica wants to become a Sign Language Interpreter. She has her life all planned out; after High School she will go to College to get her Interpreter's Degree, then become a Nanny for a family with a hearing impaired child or parent (and travel the world with them!) :) Then when she's ready to settle down and start her own family, she will start Interpreting! Pretty great plan if you ask me!
"Life is a daring adventure, or nothing at all."
Back in Elementary School, Erica had to do a project on a Woman in History, and she chose Hellen Keller. She dressed up as Hellen, played the part & did a great report. Little did we know back then that Sign Language would become such a big part of her life!
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much”
We had a great Mother/Daughter night out! And if you ever get the opportunity to see The Miracle Worker, we'd highly recommend that you do! All the captions under my pictures, are quotes by Hellen Keller, so inspiring.
